Veterans Committees
Veterans Service Committee
The Colorado Elks Association’s Veterans Service Committee is dedicated to honoring and supporting the brave men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States. This committee plays a crucial role in implementing the mission of the Elks Veterans Service Commission, extending compassion, care, and resources to veterans across our state.
Our committee is committed to assisting veterans in VA hospitals, clinics, rest homes, and Veterans Treatment Courts, ensuring that those who have sacrificed so much receive the support they deserve. Whether it’s providing comfort items, facilitating recreational activities, or advocating for necessary services, our goal is to enhance the quality of life for veterans facing health or legal challenges.
Beyond serving veterans, the committee also stands ready to offer aid to active-duty members of the Armed Forces and to respond swiftly to any calls for assistance during times of crisis or need. From organizing events to raising awareness about veterans' issues, we work year-round to ensure no veteran is forgotten and that their contributions are honored.
If you are passionate about giving back to those who served our country, we welcome you to join us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of veterans across Colorado.
Homeless & Back to Work Veterans Committee
The Colorado Elks Association’s Homeless & Back to Work Veterans Committee is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of veterans facing the hardship of homelessness. Our mission is to eradicate veteran homelessness and support veterans as they transition to stable housing and meaningful employment.
Our committee works closely with local shelters, veteran organizations, and community partners to identify veterans in need and provide them with essential services. One of our key initiatives is the Welcome Kits program, where we supply newly housed veterans with basic household items like bedding, kitchen supplies, and toiletries. These kits help veterans feel at home and provide them with the necessities to rebuild their lives with dignity.
In addition to housing support, our committee also focuses on employment assistance. We strive to connect veterans with job training programs, resume-building workshops, and job placement opportunities, empowering those who are able to return to the workforce and regain their independence.
Through compassion, dedication, and community engagement, we aim to give veterans a fresh start. Join us in the fight to end veteran homelessness and help those who served our nation get back on their feet.
Veterans Leather Program
The Colorado Elks Association’s Veterans Leather Program is a unique and impactful initiative that turns the spirit of the outdoors into a source of comfort for our nation’s disabled veterans. This committee oversees the collection of big game hides during hunting season, ensuring these valuable materials are put to good use for those who have served our country.
Our team coordinates efforts across the state, working with hunters and volunteers to gather hides, which are then transported to a designated collection area. From there, the Grand Lodge Veterans Service Commission takes over, processing the hides into high-quality leather products, including gloves and crafting kits.
These leather items are later distributed to wheelchair-bound veterans, providing them not only with functional, durable goods but also a meaningful connection to the outdoors and the hunting community. For many veterans, these leather gloves and kits become essential tools for daily activities or therapeutic outlets for creative expression.
By participating in the Veterans Leather Program, you’re helping to bridge the gap between hunters and veterans, turning harvested hides into a symbol of gratitude and service. We invite you to join us in this important mission to bring comfort and joy to those who gave so much in defense of our freedoms.
